CREATIVITY, ACTION & SERVICE
Creativity, activity, service (CAS) is one of the three essential elements that every student must complete as part of the Diploma Programme (DP).
Studied throughout the Diploma Programme, CAS involves students in a range of activities alongside their academic studies.
The CAS program starts at the beginning at the IBDP and continues on a regular basis for a minimum of 18 months. It requires a balance between Creativity, Activity and Service.
It requires students to take part in a range of experiences and at least one project. These should involve:
- real, purposeful activities, with significant outcomes
- personal challenge
- thoughtful consideration, such as planning, reviewing progress, reporting
- reflection on outcomes and personal learning
A CAS experience is a specific event in which the student engages with one or more of the three CAS strands. It can be a single event or an extended series of events. A CAS project is a collaborative series of sequential CAS experiences lasting at least one month.
