At EISB, we feel that boarding school is an ideal way for students to optimize both their academic learning and their social development. Maturity, confidence, lifelong friendships and an understanding of others are all the outgrowth of the boarding school experience. Our boarding students live in safe, comfortable, single-gender dorms with round-the-clock supervision by faculty members who live in their own apartments located in the various student “houses.” Single women faculty live in the girls’ dorms and usually male faculty or families live in the boys’ dorms. Girls are not permitted to enter the boys’ dorms and boys are not permitted to enter the girls’ dorms.
EISB offers weekly and regular boarding options for its students. These options have been planned to suit the diverse needs of parents and students.
The weekly boarding option is particularly helpful for families that are nuclear and where both the parents are working. The children are in school through the week and are engaged in all the activities of the boarding house. The students visit their homes during the weekends and stay connected with their family as well.
The regular boarding students stay on campus throughout the academic year except during vacations. They experience the complete boarding program of the weekend activities that are constructive, fun and engaging.
HOUSE PARENTS AND MENTORS
Students have constant and continuous access to faculty who – in addition to being teachers – are supervisors, coaches, mentors and counselors. Faculty members eat together with students in the Dining Hall and participate with them in athletic and cultural activities in the afternoons. Parents of students entrusted to the care of EISB can rest assured that their children are living in a safe and healthy family environment.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT FOR BOARDERS
Dorm parents and mentors are also responsible for ensuring that all boarders get supervised and personalised academic support by the skilled staff at EISB. Boarders are supported in all subjects and encouraged to develop a regular study schedule.
STUDENT WELLBEING ON CAMPUS
At EISB we ensure that our boarders get the maximum attention to their well-being.
A well-equipped health centre with a nurse is available on campus fulltime. Regular health checkups are conducted by qualified doctors. Reports of the health check are conveyed to parents in case the student needs any treatment. In case of emergencies, the child is taken to the nearest clinic/hospital. Prescription drugs are administered to the child only when prescribed by the physician.
Professional personal counselling is available to students as and when needed to resolve any conflicts or disturbances that may arise at any time.
DINNING FOR BOARDERS
The Dining Hall at EISB is the heart of the school. It is a place where students and faculty come together daily to strengthen friendships, exchange ideas and build the community spirit that distinguishes our School. Coming together for meals three times a day is about much more than eating. It is the sharing of conversation, the interaction among faculty and students, the attention to good manners and common courtesies, the interest we take in one another and the sense that we are all contributing to make the experience meaningful.
WEEKENDS FOR BOARDERS
Weekends on campus are more informal and relaxed than a regular weekday. The Dining Hall is open for brunch and dinner, and students have the opportunity to eat together in a casual environment. They may spend their weekends participating in and attending sports events or joining a school-organized field trip. They may watch a movie or take advantage of an organized shopping trip to neighboring Shopping Malls. Boarding students may also request permission to spend time with day students and their families away from campus provided they have the written approval of their parents and a confirmation from their host.
